i’ve been playing and promoting other people’s music my whole life. when i got back to school in the fall of ‘86, fresh with my cassette copy of License to Ill, i knew i’d be making dubs for classmates. B.A.D., Raising Hell, Stetsasonic, Slick Rick, and everything else i’d learn about during the summer in new york. then in ‘87 100 Miles and Runnin came out, and I could have got $30 a piece from these kids. but it wasn’t for money, it was because no one else could get it. their parents wouldn’t let them hear any of this stuff. but thanks to easier going parents and a hookup at Music Plus, i was able to. my dad went to interview Luke in Miami in ‘89, and came back with a stack of 2 Live Crew stuff for me. said he was cool as school and just taken out of context. I had the only dirty version copy of Nasty As They Wanna Be in all of California, as far as we knew. at least the 12-and-under category. now I’m thirty years old, some 13+ years after i put together my first turntable setup. I say all that to say this….
I, personally, feel that i deserve all music for free…forever. for my dedicated continued service to the musics of the world. actually…correction…i feel that i deserve to HEAR all music for free. mp3’s aren’t tangible. you don’t really HAVE them, you just hear them. i don’t believe in stealing music from artists. so if anything is actually worth the vinyl it’s pressed on, I’ll prolly pick it up. but i’m not going to spend the money just to find out. not anymore.
anyway, this stuff is out there. i find it here or i find it there. i will only be directly hosting original material from myself and the crew or our friends and associates who give us permission. i will however provide links to some of the stuff that i find because some of it needs some help in order to be found.
that being said…if anyone has a problem with anything we put up here, please contact us. if anyone needs a little help finding something we haven’t put up, please contact us. we may or may not be able to help you.
